JUNE 27 11 AM County OES Emergency Siren Test

Tuolumne County OES and Sheriff will be testing 5 Sirens in the following locations: Groveland, Tuolumne City, Twain Harte, Cold Springs and Strawberry. The County has asked TCARES if we can monitor the locations and report what was heard in a live Net that day.

(We need some Hams to drive up to Cold Springs and Strawberry and listen and call into the repeaters.)

California Shakeout Drill UPDATE #2THURSDAY OCT 20, 2022 12:30 PM
You can participate in a special annual emergency net with organizations across California. TCARES and TC Office of Emergency Services are planning an emergency NET to demonstrate the TCARES repeater infrastructure during a simulated communications outage following a simulated major earthquake incident.

We are looking for MAXIMUM PARTICIPATION!
Our goal is to see check-ins from Pinecrest to Jamestown, from Mariposa to Angels Camp, and from Modesto to Yosemite National Park! (AND ALL POINTS IN-BETWEEN)

ALL TCARES REPEATERS WILL BE LINKED, Use the one that works best for you.

CHECK-IN format.
It will be a directed net, but we will not have a roll call. We will request check-ins by Alphabet Sequence Groups, based on your Suffix. (First letter after the number in your callsign.) ALPHA – GOLF, HOTEL – NOVEMBER, OSCAR – ZULU

When you check-in, provide the following:
YOUR CALL SIGN
YOUR FIRST NAME
YOUR LOCATION & REPEATER
GRID POWER status, ON/OFF
DAMAGE YES/NO (none, broken windows, blocked road/bridge)

CONCISE checkins. We are looking for rapid efficient check-ins using the structure below. After the net is over, general chit-chat may resume.

COPY MESSAGE: After we complete the checkins, The County OES coordinator will hand over an official statement regarding facts about the incident, the response by agencies, instructions regarding evacuation plans or resource centers available – to be read out on the air. Please have pen and paper ready to copy down the statement and be ready to share in your local area as you see fit. (in the event of a real emergency) Share over GMRS/FRS, in person, etc. Don’t forget… THIS IS A DRILL… (repeat as needed)

FINALLY, we will end with a simulated a “Repeater Down” scenario and have a quick SIMPLEX Net on 147.510

TCARES info booth @ Father’s Day Fly-in

TCARES ham radio club will set up a public information and radio demonstration table at the 2022 Father’s Day Fly-in with other vendors and public agencies and organizations.

Will you volunteer? The information booth will be open for about 6 hours on each day Saturday and Sunday, can you work a 2 or 3 hour shift and help hand out flyers and demo radios?

if so, please email info@tcares.net and indicate when you can help in the booth.

8:00 am – Admission Gates Open

Admission for 2022 is FREE as the event is rebuilt after a two-year hiatus

9:00 – Vendor Booths Open & Rides Begin

At this year’s event, there will be B25, and tethered hot air balloon rides available!

11:30 am to 3:00 pm – Runway Closed for Aerial Demonstrations & Car Drag Racing

If you are flying in, we suggest you try to arrive before 11:30. Temporary tower frequency for the event is 134.7.

3:00 -3:30 pm – Flour bombing & Spot Landing Contest

Sign-ups and information for those who wish to compete will be available at the Info Booth.

5:00 – Saturday Night Dinner

The Sierras Table will be catering this year’s Saturday night dinner!

We are not pre-selling dinner tickets, those will be available at the event, on a first come first served basis! Cost is TBD per plate.
