Introduction to Winlink Training Session: Pinecrest Academy School in Cold Springs, CA

June 27 @ 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm PDT
THIS IS A FREE CLASS, Limited to the first 15 people. REGISTER BELOW.
This training session will teach participants how to use Winlink, a global, volunteer-run radio email system for amateur radio operators, allowing text-based email and data transmission, without internet or cell connectivity. Using specialized software like Winlink Express, hams connect their radios to internet-connected gateways to send messages worldwide, which is critical during disasters, for maritime, and remote communications.
Bio: Rich Combs, KK6RIC. After 30 plus years playing with optics at LLNL (Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories), Rich showed he was good at taking tests and quickly became an Extra licensed ham. But he still isn’t sure what PTT means – hihi! He is a volunteer driver, pump operator, and EMR, with Strawberry Volunteer Fire Department, at his QTH in Strawberry, CA. Hobbies include amateur astronomy, telescope building, and long-distance hiking and bicycling. What he really wants from retirement is a simple 8 to 5 job.
Bio: Greg Kiyoi, KN6RUQ. Licensed in November 2021, and now an Amateur Extra Ham. Greg says he still has a lot to learn and needs to find time to do it! He works in the software industry for a Texas based company. Greg works out of a local office in Santa Clara. He operates the only RMS Gateway in the Livermore-Tri-Valley area. Greg is currently the LARK (Livermore Amateur Radio Club) newsletter editor. He has an alternate QTH in Strawberry, CA.
